Department of Politics and International Relations
History
The department was founded in 1998, and is affiliated with the Division of Politics and Economics within the college of Social Science. This department began its first classes on March 2, 1998 and from then on, an estimated 200 students have graduated from the department. The department is currently composed of 5 faculty members and 120 undergraduate students.
The department aims to educate and train students in the basic theories and practices of international and domestic politics, so as to prepare them to take on leading positions and roles in Korean as well as the greater international society.
Introduction
The Department of Political Science and International Relations offers undergraduate majors in Political Science and international relations as well as a minor in Political Science. Political Science majors acquire a broad introduction to the study of government and politics at local, national and international levels. The major in Political Science and International Relations is multidisciplinary, and relies upon courses in Public Administration, Law, Economics, and Foreign Languages. The department offers courses in international relations, comparative politics, Korean politics, political theories, and area-studies, with great emphasis on systemic ways of thinking in the understanding of politics and social phenomena in general.
Our faculty members are nationally and internationally known scholars with expertise in a wide range of fields in political science and international relations. Students have multiple opportunities to work with faculty, complete high-profile internships, study abroad at destinations all over the world, and engage in service learning. After graduation, students have the ability to attend law school and graduate school, become teachers, work in local and central governments, the private sector, political parties and campaign consulting rs,ms, non-profit organizations and a whole host of other exciting career opportunities.

The Forum on Politics and Diplomacy
The Forum on Politics and Diplomacy is the student academic conference that deals with domestic and international political issues, and convenes once a year. All students in the department actively participate and exchange their own perspectives with regard to the related issues.
